Global warming conspiracy theories

Thank you, Jon Carroll for writing this article which begins:
One of the stranger things to happen in recent political discourse — and this is a crowded field — is the morphing of global warming into a left-wing plot, a conspiracy by godless scientists to … well, it’s not clear what benefit the scientists get from spreading lies about global warming. Maybe they just want research money to study this nonexistent warming thing.
The people who buy into the conspiracy do so, I think, because it’s easier to ignore the problem, keep the status quo, than it would be to adopt a new energy policy which advocates a change in behavior.
Thankfully, other parts of the world are taking some action.

Don’t generalize so much. There are plenty of scientist who don’t buy into global warming. If I choose to buy into their theory it’s not because of a conspiracy, but because their facts make more sense to me.
I am not entirely convinced either way on the global warming issue.
If you read up on the facts behind global warming, you will find that the planet naturally heats, cools and reheats itself, and has done continuously throughout its history.
Around the time of our industrial revolution we were burning more fossil fuels and emitting masses of toxic and carbon fumes, yet the earth’s temperature started to cool.
Even though I dont buy into the global warming scandal. I still feel its importnant not to be wasteful with the resources we are lucky to have.
So were not losing anything by switching off that lightbulb, turning the tv off standby, or travelling by public transport now and again.
I agree that even if you don’t believe that we’re in an era of man-made global warming (though I do), there are many good reasons (pollution, dependency on foreign oil, environmental degradation, etc.) to change the way we live and use our natural resources.
Tim, name one scientist from a peer-reviewed climate change journal who doesn’t buy in…

it is a conspiracy , and is controlled by the illuminati, so that there is a reason for some funds to go missing, so they can do wateva the government, fbi and all those other white wastemans in their business suits that no-one else sees, wants, open your eyes! illuminati is REAL!
Scientists get paid for their opinions not real research. It is a conspiracy to take control over your everyday lives by implementing regulations that affect the way we live entirely. Taking your freedom of choice for junk science that cannot be backed up by real research. Look at Seattle and the Puget sound today! It is covered in snow and it has had record cold and snow. If Global warming were even happening we would be gradually having warmer winters with more mild temperatures and rain and less snow and cold, that isn’t the case however as mother nature is showing right now in the rest of the US also. If man was making so much pollution to cause global warming then we could not live in the cities because they would be the source and would have to be so toxic people would die if they tried to live there, which again is not the case.
Those of you who believe C02 is the evil greenhouse gas the enviro nazis want you to think then if you hold your breath forever you will be doing your part on elimating the manmade emissions that contribute to what you think is global warming, not to mention helping with the worlds food shortage and adding more job opportunities to the rest of us assuming you do have a job.
There are many reputable scientists who do not believe in the Human Induced Global warming theory and there are millions and billions of dollars to be made if the world buys it……..
Please post a list of “reputable” scientist and then define “reputable”. Then visit the Union of Concerned Scientists and study up on something called Scientific Integrity. http://www.ucsusa.org/scientific_integrity, which has been sorely lacking in the Bush administration for the past 8 years. And while you’re there you might want to read up on the facts about Global Warming as established by Nobel Prize winning scientists, who, I would imagine, are fairly reputable. You want to debate money? Then explain to me how much money industry has made for the last 8 years of deregulated growth under a Bush Whitehouse? I realize it’s ludicrous to debate with people like “Royal Farris” (seriously?), but it’s equally unsatisfying to listen to them spew their ignorance.
BTW, I hope that Obama fulfills his promise to flood the US market with a program to build green technology. On that count, Farris is correct, there is a lot of money to be made. Oh, BTW, that money would help clean up the planet, generate thousands of jobs, put the US economy on track, establish the US as the global leader in green tech (just as Silicon Valley put us on the map for high tech), and restore international faith in the US. That’s where I stand anyway.
The Global Warming conspiracy is part of the New World Order! These so-called scientists want us to believe in this foolishness so that they can empower the feminists, who will in turn provide birth-control and abort-o-vans to systematically depopulate the United States of America, so that the United Nations can use their black helicopters to invade us. None of this would happen if it wasn’t for the liberal liars and their Global Warming conspiracy.
It always suprises me, even though it shouldnt how people resort to insults when someone doesnt agree with their beliefs or ideas (Jon). If you really believe what you say then there is no need to be so “offended” when people dont say what you want to hear. Insults and finger pointing are usually a smokescreen for the REAL issue.
United States Government induced Global warming by implementing two nuclear power plants to heat the Ocean 2 to 4 degrees .The price tag would be enormous , as they new it would take 30 to 40 years before any real results would take place.They named the Project EL-NINO , this Translates into English as little one or little child ,it also translates to THE STORM..At the same time they had another project called Haarp, many people including Jay Ventura (Conspiracy Theory) believed that Haarp was a way of creating weather some even believed it was an attempt at mind control ,in reality Haarp was created to melt the northern Ice Cap , using High Frequency. If global warming was caused by Co 2 , green house gasses or Pollution.you would find that the northern and southern Ice caps or the Colombian Ice fields in Alberta would be melting at the same rate . I assure you they are not ,a quick check on the Internet will reveal satellite Images of all three and only the Northern Icecap is disappearing .I had gone on Google earth and laughed when I seen that they have already removed the northern Ice Cap.the south still remains .It not only remains on google Earth but you will find that the satellite Images they have today are Identical to the Images you have on the Globe you bought in the 60′s and 70′s or back in the 1800′s.. They had another project , underneath the Indian OCean the Earths Crust is at it’s thinnest there is a lot of Volcanic activity.They wanted to use a number of Atomic weapons or weapons of that nature to blow a massive hole in the Earths Crust . Heat from the Earth’s Core would also heat the Ocean again creating Global warming.,however they new that a tsunami that size \ would destroy anything in it’s wake ,There was a number of issues with doing this ,you only have to look at the Damage that these Blast did . Yes they were aware of this back 40 years ago,Fukushima had just been furnished and discussions about a meltdown and the results were reviewed .We also felt if the USA did this that thwould cause World War 3
