Developer plugin competition: Geist in the Machine

April 17, 2007

Just getting the word out to developers who might stumble across this small blog in the giant blogging universe: The company I work for, Atlassian, sponsors an annual plugin competition: Codegeist. We’ve put up $20k in cash prizes and the contest is now accepting entries. The plugins can be for any of our products: JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo and Crowd. and there are prizes in each category. All the plugins in our libraries are free for customers.

You’ll find all the details on the Codegeist space on confluence.atlassian.com. And stay tuned to the Atlassian Developer Blog for updates.

I see you have a personal version of Confluence to work against, but do you have something like that for Jira? We use Jira at work so I want to work against it, but I don’t see how I can get a personal copy to develop against since it’s very tightly regulated at my job and there’s no way I would be allowed to work on it. I love Jira! I want to extendimogrify it :D

Extendimogrify… sounds like it’ll have to be the title of your next blog :)

We’ve discussed creating a personal edition of JIRA, but it’s never come about partly because we don’t know the real market demand for such a thing. I’ll raise the question again, however.
