Facebook, please buy Classmates.com
8 12 2007I’m the latest idiot to pay money for Gold membership on Classmates.com. The only people that have struck gold in the Gold membership is Classmates.com.
Got an email today that said 3 people had signed my guest book. I resisted the first two times, but this time I thought I’d check it out. Not only do I not know or remember the 3 people that signed the guest book, but I can’t see anything that they’ve written. No notes, graffiti, or messages. Just their names. As for the rest of Classmates.com, I haven’t explored it, nor is there any incentive to do so after my initial experience. The site indicates that there are dozens of forums. Dozens? That’s it? What a crap user experience.
Facebook, please buy Classmates.com. Convert all school names into groups. And stop the insidious Classmates.com banner ads.

Jon,
I couldn’t agree with you more on this. I recently poked around Classmates.com and was totally put off by their model. The idea of actually having to pay for a premium subscription seems ludicrous in the age of social networking sites like Facebook/Spock.
This is so 1.0
Yea, that’s one of the things that pissed me off about classmates.com when they first started up. They would get you all excited about meeting friends that you hadn’t seen in years and then tell you “Well.. You have to pay us first”.. How can they bribe people like that? It was so low.. So after that I vowed never to give them a single penny. And it payed off! Not much later did MySpace and Facebook come out and I got in touch with 75% of my high school buddies for FREE.. Eat that classmates.com!
LOL
Thanks for commenting. Another story confirming classmates.com uselessness.
What a waste classmates is and what a great thing it could be. Yes someone needs to buy it and drop the fees altogether then watch it turn into what it should have been all along.
